"DEI efforts feel a little uneven"
There are definitely some DEI efforts happening, but the experience still feels a bit inconsistent overall (at least from what I’ve seen). It seems like progress is being made in certain areas, while others still need more attention.

"I went in expecting the career support..."
I went in expecting the career support to be a lot more useful. At first I thought maybe I just wasn’t looking in the right place, but no, it felt thin. There wasn’t much actual guidance, the tools didn’t help much, and I didn’t see many real opportunities. I mostly ended up clicking around for a while and then just giving up...

"I thought the fellowship pages were clear. I’m..."
I thought the fellowship pages were clear. I’m not sure why anyone would make a big deal out of it, because I was able to find the award info and keep track of deadlines without much hassle.

"Frustrating to Navigate"
I found aps.org frustrating to use. The pages feel cluttered, and I kept clicking around just trying to find basic info. The search wasn’t much help either, actually, it helped a little, but mostly it gave me a bunch of random results I had to sort through. Some of the menus were confusing too, and the pages loaded weirdly on my phone. For a site I expected to be simple, it ended up wasting more time than it should have. Overall, not a great experience...

"Privacy feels less clear than others I’ve used"
I wasn’t really comfortable with the privacy setup. Compared to other services I’ve tried, this one felt a lot less clear about what data is being collected and how it’s used. Maybe it’s fine, but it didn’t give me the same level of confidence, so I don’t fully trust it

"I wasn’t sure what was safe to use"
I found the copyright info confusing. I was trying to figure out what I could reuse without getting myself into trouble, but it wasn’t clear enough for me to feel comfortable. I ended up being more cautious than I wanted to be, which was frustrating.

"I was just there recently, and it left…"
I was just there recently, and it left a bad taste. The lines were way too long, and when I finally tried to get some help, there basically wasn’t any. Maybe it’s not always like that, but based on this last experience, I’m not in a hurry to go back.

"Support Was Underwhelming"
I had one simple question and figured it would be easy to get a quick answer, but support took forever to reply and then barely helped when they finally did. Like, give me a break, it shouldn’t be this hard to get basic help

"Fees could’ve been clearer upfront"
I do like the journals, like I said, but the open access fees weren’t really clear to me until late in the process. Like I said, the journals themselves are good, I just wish aps.org made the costs easier to find from the start

"Helpful physics info, easier to follow than most science sites"
I check aps.org every now and then when I want to catch up on physics news or find outreach-related stuff. Compared with a lot of science websites, it does a better job of explaining things in a way regular people can actually understand, not just researchers. A few pages do feel a little dated, and sometimes it takes more digging than I’d like to find what I’m looking for, but overall it’s a solid resource and definitely worth browsing if you’re into physics.

"Honestly, the peer review was fair"
Yeah, the peer review took a bit of time, but I don’t really think that’s a bad thing. The comments I got were fair and actually useful, not just nitpicky for no reason. The system felt a little awkward at first, but once I got used to it, it was easy to deal with

"Solid for Physics Papers, but the Paywalls Get Old"
It’s been good overall for finding physics papers. The search works fine, and I like that the abstracts are easy to read before deciding if an article is worth digging into. I was going to say everything is smooth, but, well, some articles still hit you with paywalls, which is annoying.

"The emails actually make sense, right?"
I’ve been happy with the APS emails so far. They’re not packed with a bunch of random stuff I don’t care about, which I really appreciate. Most of the updates feel relevant and easy to skim, and I don’t get that spammed feeling. that’s how email updates should be, don’t you think?

"I found the governance info easy to..."
I found the governance info easy to find. Some pages are a little heavy to read. But overall, it feels clear and transparent. It was useful.

"Accessibility help was more frustrating than I expected"
I was trying to ask about accommodations for an APS event, and it felt harder than it needed to be. I might have missed something obvious, but the info on APS seemed buried, and I ended up clicking around for a while just to figure out who I was supposed to contact.

When I did email, the response took longer than I expected and didn’t really give me a clear answer. I’m not saying they don’t care, and maybe there was more going on behind the scenes, but as a disabled attendee it kind of made me feel like an afterthought. In the end, I just didn’t feel confident I’d be able to attend comfortably

"I do like that aps.org covers physics..."
I do like that aps.org covers physics news and policy-related stuff, and it seems solid overall. That said, I’m not totally convinced it works that well as science advocacy. A lot of it feels like it’s written more for people who already understand the field, rather than someone from the general public just trying to get informed. I could be missing some of the bigger impact, but I didn’t really leave feeling like it was pushing for change in a strong way. It’s useful here and there, just not especially engaging or impactful for me.

"Not as helpful as they made it sound"
The resources were described like they’d actually make a difference, but they barely helped me at all. The wording made it seem like I’d be getting something more useful or in-depth, and that was misleading. I ended up feeling like I wasted my time.

"Pretty good journals overall"
I usually find APS journals to be really solid. The papers look clean and the citations are easy to follow, which makes reading way less annoying. Sometimes the pages load kinda weird or not super smooth, but overall the publication quality is good.

"Not gonna lie, it wasn’t very helpful for beginners"
Not gonna lie, as someone newer to physics, I was hoping for a bit more support. The student help felt cold and not all that useful when I actually needed guidance

"I paid my APS dues online, and..."
I paid my APS dues online, and everything went just like it was supposed to. The amount charged matched what was shown, and I got my receipt quickly afterward. I always check for random extra fees or accidental double charges, but there weren’t any issues. Overall, it was a simple, hassle-free payment experience, and I’d say it was handled well
